Mental Toughness for Leaders Team Building
Building Mentally Strong Leadership Teams: Mental Toughness + Team Building
- Do you need some new strategies to lead when your team is exhausted, and you are too?
- Â Have you heard of Mental Toughness and are keen to know more about how developing it may help you and your leadership team?
Building mental toughness enables individuals to cope with change, adversity and uncertainty. People often talk about mental toughness, but few understand its true meaning. We define it here as maintaining your focus during difficult situations and making good decisions.
In addition, developing mental toughness leads to increased aspirations, openness to change, ability to cope in transition, enhanced commitment, social mobility, motivation, self-confidence, emotional control, improved relationships and overall wellbeing.
Mental toughness is a critical component of psychological resilience and personal effectiveness, and it helps us deal effectively with stressors and challenges in our lives.
In the workplace, mental toughness enables us to cope better with adversity and achieve more than we might otherwise expect. We can improve our ability to control our emotions and manage our thoughts and feelings. This makes us more resilient and less likely to succumb to negative moods or behaviours such as depression, anxiety, anger, fear, frustration and cynicism.

We are excited to have adapted a program to support your leadership team in discovering their profile 1:1 in a virtual debrief and then further exploring mental toughness as a strength and asset across the group and strategic ways to develop mental toughness across the four core quadrants.
The concept of Mental Toughness has largely been overlooked or even misunderstood.
Developing Mental Toughness as a leader can have many positive benefits for yourself and your team. In addition to improving your response to challenges, you can gain the trust of those around you while empowering your team to work at their best, seeing their belief in their abilities grow alongside your own. Team Flow on Benefits
Why invest in a team workshop? What does welcome to the team mean in your organisation?
We often hear that new team members ‘hit the ground running” and this is primarily due to the fast-paced nature of our organisations. One client mentioned, there is just less ‘chum factor’ – this is often presented to us as a lack of connection in teams or across departments. We still often hear the term ‘silos’. With technological advances, we communicate digitally and have less direct face to face opportunities to really connect. This session works brilliantly with one team, or you can have many in the room, and we will mix them all and have time with their own team.
